"Bids
on the Block"
Courtesy of The Los Angeles Times (LA, CA)
Published July 9th, 2006
Fanned by EBay flames, it was bound to happen.
As buyers have regained an upper hand and sellers
have started to sweat, real estate auctions — live
and online — have caught on.
The changing market has nervous owners trying to
sell quickly rather than letting their homes
languish while their fears of declining values
mount. Buyers, sensing the realty winds shifting
their way, see bargains, something they've only
dreamed of in the last few years. And then, of
course, there is human nature and the thrill
of bidding competitions.

bidding offers new market for housing"
Courtesy of The Boston Globe (Boston, MA)
Published July 3rd, 2006
Ada Focer and her late husband,
John Marlier, we urban pioneers when they purchased
their home on Ashmont Hill in Dorchester in 1977.
At the time, the racial strife of Boston's busing
crisis had yet to loosen.
Only one bank would give the couple a mortgage
for the house's $30,000 purchase price. "They
were almost giving properties away," Focer
said.
She is again a pioneer, as part of a small but
growing cadre of Americans who are spurning real
estate agents to sell their homes themselves, in
online auctions. Bids on her 1886 house were due
at 9 p.m. last Tuesday.

fast.
Really fast.
They used a unique approach that's catching on
around the country. The signs
that led to a flurry of activity at their home
over the weekend promoted their house was up for

"How to sell your home fast"
Courtesy of Bottom Line Personal
If you need or want to sell your home on your own quickly, you can get a great
price in just five days. Steps to take…
- Lower your asking price. To attract a large number — between 20 and
40 — of serious buyers and show that you are flexible, price your home
10% below the
price of similar homes in your area. The goal is to price your home as attractively
as possible when your ad first appears in the local paper. Free enterprise
having potential buyers bid against one another will take care of the rest.
